Auto Parts FAQ

Buying auto parts in Kingston — Toyota, Honda and Japanese vehicles: fitment, chassis numbers, delivery and how to order on WhatsApp.

Ordering & Stock

Where can I buy auto parts in Jamaica?

Acid Motor Sale Shop Ltd on Lemon Lane, Kingston, supplies new and used parts for Toyota, Honda and other Japanese vehicles — from Toyota Axio, Crown and Voxy to the Honda Civic ES, Fit, Stream, Accord and Grace. Search the online catalog, then WhatsApp (876) 896-4090 with your chassis number to confirm stock and fitment.

Are the prices on the website final?

The catalog shows the part and vehicle, but final pricing is confirmed on WhatsApp because stock and condition change. Message us the part and your chassis number and we will send the current price before you travel or pay.

Do you source parts that are not in the catalog?

Yes. If a part is not listed, send the part name, vehicle model, year and chassis number on WhatsApp and we will source it through our supplier network.

Can I reserve or hold a part?

Yes — message us on WhatsApp to check availability and arrange a hold. A deposit may be required for held or special-order items.

Fitment & Chassis Numbers

How do I confirm a part fits my car?

Send your chassis number on WhatsApp. It identifies the exact year, engine and trim, so we can confirm the correct part before you buy — this is the single most reliable way to avoid ordering the wrong part.

What is a chassis number and where is it?

The chassis number (VIN / frame number) uniquely identifies your vehicle's exact specification. On Japanese cars it is usually on a sticker inside the driver's door jamb or stamped on the engine-bay firewall.

My Civic is a Civic ES — what does that mean for parts?

The 7th-gen Honda Civic ES (ES1/ES2, 2001–2005) had a facelift in 2004. Headlights, front bumper, grille and taillights differ between the 2001–2003 and 2004–2005 periods and are not interchangeable. Tell us your exact year so we match the right part.

Can you match a part from a photo?

Yes. Send a clear photo of the old or damaged part on WhatsApp with your vehicle model and chassis number and we can usually identify and match it.

Delivery, Pickup & Payment

Do you deliver across Jamaica?

Delivery can be arranged — message us on WhatsApp to confirm delivery areas and cost for your order. Same-day pickup is available from our Kingston store.

Where is Acid Motor located and what are the hours?

We are at 5 Lemon Lane, Mannings Hill Road, Kingston, open Monday to Saturday. Call (876) 896-4090 or (876) 506-2251.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash and bank transfer. For special orders and deposits, transfer details are shared when payment is arranged. Confirm the payment method on WhatsApp first.

Dismantle & Removed-to-Order Parts

What does "removed to order" mean on a part?

It means the part is still fitted to a vehicle in our yard rather than sitting on a shelf. It is a real part we can supply — we take it off when you order it. Removal usually takes hours rather than days, so message us on WhatsApp to confirm before you travel.

Is a removed-to-order part in worse condition than a shelf part?

Usually better. A panel, interior trim or glass left on the vehicle has not been stacked in a yard or had things put on top of it, and it comes off cleanly with the right tools when you order it.

Can I see a photo of the actual part before I pay?

Yes. Ask on WhatsApp and we will send a photo of the specific part before you commit to anything.

Which vehicles do you dismantle?

We hold dismantle stock for the Toyota Mark X (X120 and X130), Nissan Note E12, Honda Civic ES, Honda Civic Sport, Honda Fit, Honda Shuttle and Honda Grace, alongside our shelf stock. Search the catalogue by vehicle to see what is listed.

CVT & Automatic Gearboxes

Why does my car shudder when I accelerate gently?

On a CVT car — a Honda Fit, Nissan Note or Tiida — a shudder under light throttle at around thirty to forty five kilometres an hour is the classic early sign of the belt slipping on the pulleys. Get it checked early; the cost only goes one way.

My car will not move in Drive on a cold morning but reverse works. What is that?

That is a well-known CVT symptom, especially on the Honda Fit. It usually points to a pressure problem inside the gearbox and it is the first real warning. Have it looked at rather than waiting for it to stop clearing.

Can I use any CVT fluid?

No. CVT fluid is specific and the wrong one can destroy a healthy gearbox. Use exactly what the manufacturer specifies for your car, and if you are not certain, ask before anything goes in.

Do you sell used CVT gearboxes in Jamaica?

Yes. We match them to your chassis number rather than just the model name, because the same model can take different units depending on engine, trim and year. Send your chassis number on WhatsApp.

My gearbox failed going up a hill. Why?

CVTs generate heat, and a long climb with a full car is the hardest thing you can ask of one. Overheating is a common cause of failure. If it has happened once, the cooling needs looking at as part of the repair or it will happen again.

Engines

How do I find my engine code?

It is stamped on the engine block — codes like D15B, D17A, 1NZ-FE, HR12DE or 4GR-FSE. Send us a photo of the stamping, or your chassis number, and we will identify it for you.

Why does my Corolla burn oil?

The 1NZ-FE engine used in the Corolla, Axio, Vitz and Probox is very reliable, but past high mileage it commonly starts consuming oil through worn piston rings or valve seals. Check the dipstick weekly — this engine will run itself low quietly.

What is the rattle for a few seconds when I start my car cold?

A brief metallic rattle from the front of the engine on a cold start often points to a stretched or worn timing chain. It does not fix itself and it does not stay cheap. Get it diagnosed early.

Does my Nissan Note have a supercharger?

Only if it is the DIG-S. The HR12DDR DIG-S is supercharged and direct injected; the plain HR12DE is neither. Open the bonnet and look for a supercharger and intercooler, or send us your chassis number.

Do you sell complete used engines?

Yes, including complete engines for the Nissan Note, Honda Civic, Honda Fit and Toyota Mark X among others. Many are one specific physical unit identified by the serial on the block, so confirm availability before travelling.

Lights, Bumpers & Body Panels

Which side is the driver’s side headlight in Jamaica?

The right-hand light. Cars here are right-hand drive so the driver sits on the right. If you are unsure, just say "driver’s side" or "passenger side" and we will match it correctly.

Can I fit LED headlights to a car that came with halogen?

Not as a straight swap. The wiring and often the mounting differ between halogen and LED units, even on the same model and year. Tell us what your car currently has.

Why do you need my exact year for a headlight or bumper?

Because most models had a mid-life facelift that changed the front end. Two cars that look identical from the side can need different headlights and bumpers. The chassis number settles it.

Will I have to paint a used bumper?

Almost always. Paint fades differently depending on how a car has lived, so treat a colour match as a bonus rather than a plan, and budget for painting.

What should I check on a used bumper before buying?

The mounting tabs and brackets on the back, not the face. Broken tabs mean the bumper will never sit straight, and they do not show in a front photo. Ask for a picture of the reverse side.

Parts by Vehicle

Where can I get Toyota Mark X parts in Jamaica?

We carry Mark X parts for both the X120 and X130 generations — body, lighting, interior, suspension, brakes, engine and drivetrain. The two generations do not share body or lighting parts, so tell us which you have or send your chassis number.

Do you have Nissan Note parts?

Yes, extensively, for the E12 Note — including complete engines and the DIG-S specific parts such as the supercharger, intercooler and high pressure fuel pump that are hard to find locally.

Do you stock Honda Shuttle and Grace parts?

Yes. The two share a great deal mechanically, including the hybrid system and dual-clutch gearbox, but body panels, glass and lighting are model-specific. Send your chassis number so we match the right side.

Do you carry parts for the newer Honda Civic?

Yes, for the 2016-on Civic. Note that the turbo and non-turbo cars differ significantly in the engine bay, and saloon and hatchback differ from the B-pillar back, so we need to know which you have.

What if my vehicle is not listed on the site?

Message us anyway. The catalogue shows what is listed, not everything we can get — send the part, your vehicle and your chassis number and we will source it through our supplier network.

Condition, Quality & Trade

What condition are the used parts?

Used parts are honestly described and checked before sale. Ask for specific condition details on any part before buying and we will tell you exactly what it is.

Do you sell new parts too?

Yes — we stock both used and new/aftermarket parts for many popular Toyota, Honda and Japanese models. Confirm new or used when you enquire.

Do you supply mechanics and body shops?

Yes. We supply garages, mechanics and body shops. Message us on WhatsApp to discuss trade pricing, regular supply and our loyalty club discount.

Is there a loyalty discount?

Yes — our loyalty club gives a 10% discount. Ask about joining when you order.
